A membership to the world of play
What does it mean to join the Brisbane South Toy Library? Just like a traditional book library, members can borrow toys, play with them, and simply return them for a new selection of toys next time. We are a volunteer-run organisation that provides members the opportunity to borrow from over 2,000 quality toys, games and play materials.
Play is one of the most important ways children learn and develop and the toy library opens up a world of playful possibilities. The magic really happens when our toys go out to families for play.
Our toys have been carefully chosen to offer excellent play value, support your child’s development, and inspire their imagination. Located in Richlands, the Brisbane South Toy Library has toys suitable from ages 6 months to 12 years, and our collection is regularly reviewed and refreshed.
Why are toy libraries becoming popular?
While toy libraries have existed in Australia for nearly 50 years, today, they are more popular than ever.
Whether it is to save money, avoid clutter or minimise waste - a toy library can provide a wonderful alternative to buying toys. Introducing children to the share economy and the concept of toy libraries has many benefits other than accessing quality toys at an affordable price. Benefits to children include keeping pace with interests and developing minds, sharing, responsibility and connecting with others in our community.
