Do we accept toy donations?
Yes, we gladly take donations! Toys will be either absorbed into our collection or sold to raise funds for the library. Donating to the Brisbane South Toy Library means your toys will be enjoyed by children for many years to come, and it helps reduce the environmental impact of new purchases. You’ll be helping keep toys out of land-fill.
Donations must be suitable for placing in the library and loaning to other families, or used as spares. We have outlined criteria below to help you determine if a toy is suitable.
Donated toys we can accept
Toys, puzzles, games and sports items that are complete, in excellent condition and playable
Both wooden and plastic items that meet Australian toy safety standards
Balls with a circumference no greater than 20cm
Duplo, Mega Bloks, and other construction toys
Puzzles for all ages up to 100 pieces
Loose items E.g. animals, play kitchen items, Little People, shapes, dolls house furniture, blocks, etc
Cozy Coupes and other ride-on bikes, scooter and trikes
Electronic toys in excellent condition, and complete if they have shapes, balls or other items for them to be playable
All donations need to be easily transported in a car, either as a whole toy or in pieces
Donated toys we cannot accept
Fluffy or soft toys, teddies or dolls with fabric bodies
Toys that have been scratched, written on, are incomplete, missing pieces, chewed or damaged in any way
Puzzles over 100 pieces
Violent toys like guns, Nerf, water pistols and military toys
Barbie and associated items and similar licensed toys
Bikes with a chain
Hand-made toys
Toys with button batteries
Single-use toys such as tiara-making kits
Toys from fast food outlets or supermarket promotions eg. McDonalds or Ooshies

I have new toys given to my child that we have never used. Can I donate these?
Yes, we can adsorb them into our toy library or sell them to raise money for the toy library.

What else can I do with the toys I no longer need, but can't go to the toy library?
We recommend that you:
Donate them to a charity or op shop in your area. For baby items, consider Baby Give Back
Take broken toys to any Big W store for recycling
Take broken electronics and hard plastics to local government recycling centres or Endeavour recycling (e.g. Willawong Resource Recovery Centre)

What else does the toy library need?
We are always looking for sturdy plastic storage containers with lids, in any size or shape.
